The two brothers, Mark (left) & Matt Widder (right), grew up just outside of Flint, Michigan, in the community called Durand, with parents who instilled in them the standards of hard work, accountability and, "leaving it all on the field.".
Mark had always disliked getting his haircut, and as a solution, just shaved his own head for years. But once he became a dad, "I grew my hair out and still couldn't stand taking time out of my day to get it cut."
It was by chance Mark and his son walked into a Tune Up; The Manly Salon in the Knoxville, TN area where he said, "I loved the business model. Having come from the Midwest, I had never heard of anything like it."
Mark continued, "My son liked it too, and we played shuffleboard and games and just had a good time together.".
As Matt said, "People deserve a better option for their salon services!", and Tune Up; The Manly Salon happened to be the perfect business model to introduce to the best experience to the Rock Hill, South Carolina community.

WHO IS MARK & MATT WIDDER?
After a 15 year career with Target starting as a 1st level manager to becoming district manager overseeing 10 locations and 2,500 associates & leaders to now as acting District Director of Carolinas overseeing 14 Ralph Lauren retail stores, Matt Widder's operational management will be a driving force as they have plans to open several locations, with their second one in Rock Hill already in the works.
Mark's six year career as a cardiovascular critical care RN transitioned to becoming a stay-at-home dad to three kids, paving the way for his wife to pursue her career in sports administration.
Combined, the communication, service and leadership skills between the Widder brothers ensures a formula for success.
As their doors officially opened on Wednesday, January 31st, the future is bright for Mark & Matt, and we couldn't be more proud to be the brand they chose to invest in their future.
